CLINICAL MANAGEMENT OF FINGER TIP INJURIES

Abstract
|
|
|
236 cases of the finger tip injuries operated at the department of plastic surgery of National Medical Center from Jan. 1981 to May 1985.
There were 178 patients with 236 finger tip injuries.
We have obtained following results.
1. Patients were most common occtrred in second decade with 82 cases(46%) and male to female ratio was 4:1
2. Index was most frequent affected as 68 cases (29%), next digit middle finger and thumb came in order.
3. The level of digit to injury was most common at nail bed and next nail matrix.
4. The injuries were chiefly caused by a kinds of pressor and cutter.
5. The crushing injury was most common type of wound.
6. Local anesthesia was mainly used to operate the finger tip injuries.
7. Sixteen of 21 microsurgical replanted fingers survived (76%).
8. The most common of postoperative complication were flap necrosis and infection.
